Bread Machine Hamburger Buns (Dough Setting)

These easy bread machine hamburger buns are soft, fluffy, buttery, and perfect for summer grilling season! Whether you're making burgers for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, backyard BBQs, cookouts, sloppy joes, pulled pork sandwiches, or family dinners, these homemade buns take your meal to the next level. Simply add the ingredients to your bread machine, let it do the work, then shape and bake for homemade bakery-style buns everyone will love!
Homemade Hamburger Buns (Bread Machine Dough Cycle)
1 c lukewarm water (240 g)
2 tsp sugar (8 g)
1/4 c melted butter (57 g)
1 egg (50 g)
3-3 ½ c all-purpose or bread flour (360-420 g)
1 tsp salt (6 g)
2 ½ tsp yeast (8 g)
Directions
Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order listed and select the dough cycle. After about 5 minutes of mixing, check the dough consistency. If the dough is sticking to the paddle or sides of the pan, add additional flour 1/8 cup at a time until a smooth ball forms. If the dough looks dry or crumbly, add 1 tablespoon of water, allow it to mix well, and check again. The dough should be soft, smooth, and slightly tacky. Let the dough cycle run completely, about 1½ hours.
Once the cycle is finished, turn the dough out onto a clean surface. Gently press out or lightly knead the dough, then divide it into 8 equal portions for large buns or 10 portions for smaller buns. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place on a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet.
While the oven preheats to 425°F (220°C), brush the tops with egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 teaspoon water) and sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, Everything Bagel seasoning, or your favorite topping, if desired. For extra fluffy buns, let them rise for 15–20 minutes before baking, or bake immediately.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the buns are beautifully golden brown.
