This vintage no knead, no yeast, no rise cheese and onion soup bread is a forgotten classic! Made with just 5 ingredients—flour, Lipton onion soup mix, buttermilk, cheese, and baking soda—this quick bread is savory, cheesy, and so easy. Perfect with soups, stews, or as an old-fashioned side dish. It's quick and easy and ready in just an hour!
Vintage Cheesy Onion Soup Quick Bread
Ingredients:
3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 packages dry onion soup mix
½ tsp baking soda
2 cups buttermilk (or 2 c milk + 1 Tbsp vinegar or lemon juice, or 2 c water + ½ c buttermilk powder)
1 ½ c shredded cheese, divided
Instructions:
Measure all-purpose flour, soup mixes, and baking soda into a large mixing bowl. Whisk to mix. Add buttermilk and 1 cup of shredded cheese and mix. Pour batter into a well-greased loaf pan. Top with ½ c shredded cheese if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. Enjoy your vintage cheesy onion soup quick bread!
