Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Glaze

Have extra bread in your home that you don't want to go to waste? Make Bread Pudding! This old fashion, traditional recipe is absolutely delicious, cheap, and easy to make. Make your own loaves of homemade bread, then use any leftovers to make this simple dessert for your family. Cinnamon raisin bread, sandwich bread, buns, and even hotdog buns are great to use in this bread pudding!

Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Glaze

5–7 pieces of bread (about 4 cups / 240 g) (use what you have! A little stale is best.)
2 tablespoons melted butter (28 g)
4 eggs
2 cups milk (480 g)
3/4 cup sugar (150 g)
1 teaspoon vanilla (5 g)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (3 g)

Tear the bread into pieces and place it in a 10-inch cast iron skillet or an 8×8-inch baking dish. Drizzle the melted butter over the bread. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour the mixture over the bread, making sure every piece gets soaked. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden.

Vanilla Glaze

2 tablespoons melted butter (28 g)
1 to 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (120–180 g, adjust for desired thickness)
3 tablespoons milk (45 g)
1 teaspoon vanilla (5 g)

Whisk the melted butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Pour the glaze over the warm bread pudding before serving. Enjoy!
