Easy Bread Machine Potato Bread Recipe (Instant Potato Flakes)

This Potato Bread recipe using instant potato flakes is so easy to make in your bread machine! This bread is soft, fluffy, and oh-so-good! It is simple, delicious, and so easy using instant potatoes instead of real mashed potatoes. Using potatoes in any form in your bread will make your bread softer, fluffier, and give your bread a better texture, chew, and will help your bread stay fresh longer. I store lots and lots of instant potatoes in my prepper pantry and long term food storage, so I love to pull these out and use them when making a homemade loaf of bread to help my bread be even better. Bread Machine Potato Bread with Potato Flakes

1.5 lb Loaf 

·       1¼ cups hot water (296 g)

·       2 tbsp melted butter (28 g)

·       3 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour (360 g)

·       2 tbsp sugar (25 g)

·       2 tbsp instant milk powder (14 g)

·       ½ cup instant potato flakes (30 g)

·       1½ tsp salt (9 g)

·       1½ tsp instant yeast (5 g)


1 lb Loaf

·       ¾ cup + 2 tbsp hot water (200 g)

·       1½ tbsp melted butter (21 g)

·       2 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour (240 g) (310 g fresh milled flour)

·       1 Tbs sugar or honey (12 g)

·       2 Tbs instant milk powder (14 g)

·       ⅓ cup instant potato flakes (20 g)

·       1 tsp salt (6 g)

·       1 tsp instant yeast (4 g)


2 lb Loaf

·       1⅔ cups hot water (395 g)

·       3 tbsp melted butter (42 g)

·       4 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour (480 g)

·       3 tbsp sugar (38 g)

·       3 tbsp instant milk powder (21 g)

·       ¾ cup instant potato flakes (45 g)

·       2 tsp salt (12 g)

·       2¼ tsp instant yeast (7 g)


Bread Machine Instructions (all sizes)

1.  Add ingredients to the pan in the order listed: liquids dry yeast.

2.  Set machine to Basic/White cycle.

3.  Choose crust color (light recommended).

4.  After 3–5 minutes, check dough ball:

o   Smooth, soft, slightly tacky perfect

o   Too sticky add 1 tbsp flour

o   Too dry add 1 tbsp water

5.  Allow cycle to finish (about 3 hrs).
