- 1½ cups cold milk (360 g)
- ⅓ cup melted butter (76 g / 5 Tbsp)
Self-Rising Flour Substitute
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (360 g)
- 1½ Tbsp baking powder (18 g)
- 1 heaping tsp salt (7 g)
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). If using a cast iron griddle or skillet, place it in the oven while preheating. Can also use a cookie sheet.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, milk, and melted butter until combined.
3. Turn dough out onto a well-floured surface. Flip in flour and work it briefly just until it comes together into a ball.
4. Roll or pat dough to about 1 inch thick.
5. Cut into biscuits and place them touching on a hot cast iron griddle, skillet, or baking sheet.
6. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until golden brown to your liking.
7. Brush tops with melted butter and enjoy warm!
Best with butter and jam, preserves, or honey! Also great for biscuits and gravy.
