EASY Sourdough Discard Tortillas Recipe (Don't Waste that Starter!)

Never waste your sourdough discard again! This easy recipe transforms your leftover sourdough starter into incredibly soft and flavorful sourdough discard tortillas. Perfect for tacos, wraps, quesadillas, and more! These homemade tortillas are surprisingly simple to make and taste way better than store-bought.

Ingredients:

¾ c warm water (180g)

¼ c (1/2 stick) melted butter (57g)

½ c sourdough discard (120g)

2 ½ c all-purpose flour (310g)

½ - 1 tsp salt (your preference) (3-6g)

Instructions:

Add ingredients in order listed to mixer or bowl. Knead on speed 2 (medium low) for 2-3 minutes. Cover with a warm, wet tea towel and let rest for 20 minutes. Divide dough into 12 pieces to make 8-inch tortillas, or into 8 pieces to make 10-inch tortillas. Let rest again for 20 minutes, this helps the tortillas not spring back. Roll out into circles using a rolling pin or tortilla press. Heat a well-oiled cast iron griddle or skillet to medium heat. Let tortillas bake for 45 seconds to 1 minute, then flip, let bake another 45 seconds to 1 minute, then flip again until it rises. Place in a covered container to prevent your tortillas from hardening. Enjoy these easy sourdough tortillas for tacos, quesadillas, or by themselves!
