This is the Best Beginner Bread Machine Recipe! Today I'm going to show you step-by-step how to make the easiest, best bread machine recipe for beginners. I can confidently claim that this is the best bread machine recipe because when I was new to the bread machine more than 20 years ago, I tried them all and finally discovered this one after many fails! This is the first bread machine recipe I had success with and was pleased with, and I've been making it for more than 20 years! It's soft, fluffy white sandwich bread. To me, it's my failproof and foolproof bread machine recipe--it works every time! I've made 1000s of loaves of this homemade bread to feed my family and I know you can, too. 

2 lb Loaf: 

  • 1 c warm water (237 g)
  • 1/3 c milk (83 g)
  • ¼ c melted butter (57 g)
  • 3 ¾ cups flour (450 g)
  • 3 Tbs sugar (37 g)
  • 1 ½ tsp salt (8.5 g)
  • 1 ½ tsp yeast (4.5 g)

1.5 lb Loaf: 

  • 3/4 c warm water (177 g)
  • ¼ c milk (60)
  • 3 Tbs melted butter (42 g)
  • 2 ¾ c flour (330 g)
  • 2 Tbs sugar (25 g)
  • 1 heaping tsp salt (7 g)
  • 1 tsp yeast (3 g)

1 lb Loaf: 

  • ½ cup warm water (120 g)
  • 2 ½ Tbs milk (37.5 g)
  • 2 Tbs melted butter (28 g)
  • 1 ¾ c flour (210 g)
  • 1 ½ Tbs sugar (19 g)
  • 3/4 tsp salt (4.5 g) 
  • 1 tsp yeast (3 g)

Bread Machine: Add ingredients to bread machine in order listed and choose basic white cycle (about 3 hours). Check your ball of dough a few minutes in to check to be sure all ingredients are incorporated and your dough looks smooth, not too sticky, wet, or dry (see video).

Dough Cycle: Place into bread machine bread pan in order listed. Set to dough cycle. Check your ball of dough a few minutes in to check to be sure all ingredients are incorporated and your dough looks smooth, not too sticky, wet, or dry (see video). When the dough cycle has completed in 1.5 hours, punch down dough and turn out onto counter. Shape into a loaf and place in loaf pan or a bagette and place onto baking pan. Let rise for about 20 minutes. Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes. ENJOY!!
