Share
You are going to love these easy, 4-ingredient French baguettes! In this simple baking tutorial, I'll show you step by step how to make homemade baguettes or french bread at home using your stand mixer (you can also make these by hand or using your bread machine dough cycle!). These baguettes can be baked on any baking sheet, but I especially love using my baguette pan to make these more authentic baguettes.
4 Ingredient French Baguettes
Ingredients:
1 3⁄4 c lukewarm water 420g
3 tsp yeast (active or instant) 9g
3 tsp salt 18g
3 tsp sugar (optional) 12g
4 1/4 c all-purpose or bread flour 540g
Instructions:
Put all ingredients into the mixing bowl of your stand mixer. You can also hand knead this dough or use your bread machine dough cycle. Once the ingredients are incorporated, check on your ball of dough. Your dough should not stick to the sides/bottom of the bowl. If it is, add 1/8 c more flour until it pulls away from sides and bottom easily. Let the stand mixer knead the dough for 6-8 minutes on speed 2. Cover the bowl with a warm wet tea towel and let rise until expanded, usually 30 minutes to an hour. Punch down your dough and turn it out from the bowl. Divide into 3 equal pieces and shape into baguettes. Mine are typically about 15 inches long. Place on baguette pan or baking pan and cover with sprayed wrap and let rise about 30 minutes. Score with a bread lame. Optionally, you can do an egg wash or milk wash, and they are ready to bake! Bake in a preheated 475-degree oven for 14 to 15 minutes, until browned to your liking. Brush with melted butter if desired. Enjoy your beautiful homemade baguettes!
