3 Ingredient Dolly Parton Cake ( + Fresh Milled)
This 3 ingredient Cuppa Cuppa Cake—also known as the Dolly Parton cake from the movie Steel Magnolias—is one of the easiest old-fashioned Southern desserts you’ll ever make. A true Appalachian classic, this cobbler-style dessert uses equal parts flour, sugar, and fruit (the “cuppa cuppa” method) to create a buttery, golden topping with juicy fruit underneath—no mixing bowls, no fuss. If you love simple, nostalgic recipes like dump cakes and cobblers, this one is a must-try. It’s perfect for busy days, last-minute guests, or when you just want something sweet and comforting without the work.Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate comfort dessert.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup self-rising flour (120 g) *subsitutes below
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
- 1 (15 oz) can fruit cocktail, undrained
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or 8×8-inch baking dish.
3. Add flour, sugar, and entire can of fruit cocktail (with juice).
4. Stir until combined.
5. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden on top.
To Serve:
Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
All-Purpose Flour Substitute:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder (6 g)
- 1/4 tsp salt (1.5 g)

- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder (6 g)
- 1/4 tsp salt (1.5 g)
